Sunderland Culture- Pitch and feedback

Image
The following document contains my initial pitch for the Sunderland Culture project, including my feedback. The pitch includes initial ideas for what my project could look like, a first draft of my target or preferred audiences and response to potential setbacks. This has been amended multiple times as my ideas have changed from what I originally planned.  Pitch Sunderland Culture from Sophieg8 Peer Feedback I have also sent out a Google form to my class to ensure they think that my idea fits the brief well and also think it will be something they will be interested in seeing the finished product of.  From the form responses I was pleased to see that 100% of my respondents said that my idea fits the brief well (answering either 'strongly agree' or 'agree'). They were also able to identify my main theme of heritage and said that I had thought about the clients needs. I also found that 71% of respondents said that they would be interested in seeing my final produc...

Sunderland Culture- Audience research and profiling

Image
Audience Research and Profiling This document explains my target audience in detail though means of demographics, psychographics and social grade. Hopefully my explanations will give a better idea of who I'm trying to target and why, detailing exactly where I have chosen each group and how effective it would be to target them over other groups where relevant. There are also tables to help refer to exactly what group I mean, but some of these may be subject to change when I get more responses to my survey on Google Forms.  Psychographics My target audience is likely to be mainly a mix of mainstreamers and explorers. This is because this is the groups that are most likely to be part of an active audience with my product- they may be influenced by what I make to actually make an effort to find out more about their family history. Explorers are mentioned to be interested in individualism, of which heritage could play a big part in. The seek discovery, so...

Sunderland Culture- Research on Client and existing products

Image
This is my research on the client and some existing products that are similar to what I'm hoping to create. Here, I outline the basic values and purpose of Sunderland Culture which relate to the project but also some early risks in the project. I have faced some of these risks before in my previous projects but have managed to find a way around each of them and so they don't cause the whole project to sway too far from what I wanted.  I also decided to cover some research into videos from previous years both from Sunderland themselves and other successful cities, whether that be winning cities or those that were shortlisted in the competition. I did think this was very worth looking at as it shows what works well and what they are looking for from winning culture bids. The Stoke-on-trent one in particular was great to analyse as it is very similar to what I envision for my own project and it was even shortlisted that year alongside Sunderland.  Focus: Expand on your client res...

Interpreting the brief

Image
The following post is my own interpretation of the brief given to us regarding Sunderland Culture. I go through some of my initial thoughts and ideas based on the information given in the brief. This has helped me decide on potential target audiences and how best to reach them as well as meeting the clients needs. I will then go on to expand these thoughts and go into further detail in posts in the future.  Audience My audience for this project is 16-25 year olds meaning that I'm going to have to find ways to reach mainly Gen Z and some Millennials. I also need to make an effort to make my audience active as it is my goal is to encourage them to think about their regional identity, meaning that they will have to engage in some way with what I produce, even if this is just thinking about their own identity.  The brief asks that my audience may also "express their own regional identity". I don't think there are too many ways you can outwardly express your regional ide...
