Copyright and permissions for footage

Due to the cost of an entry ticket into Beamish, I have considered using stock footage instead of getting the footage myself. For this, I sourced a clip from the BFI which included the city of Sunderland trams from 1904. I spoke with someone from the BFI who was able to supply me with their copyright policy and fair use of the video clip. This was as follows:

"Several exceptions allow copyright works to be used for educational purposes, such as:

the copying of works in any medium as long as the use is solely to illustrate a point, it is not done for commercial purposes, it is accompanied by a sufficient acknowledgement, and the use is fair dealing. This means minor uses, such as displaying a few lines of poetry on an interactive whiteboard, are permitted, but uses which would undermine sales of teaching materials are not
performing, playing or showing copyright works in a school, university or other educational establishment for educational purposes. However, it only applies if the audience is limited to teachers, pupils and others directly connected with the activities of the establishment. "

The copyright policy states that the copying of the video can be used: 
(1) to solely illustrate a point - to which mine is to demonstrate the revolution of Sunderland transport
(2) is accompanied by sufficient acknowledgement- to which I will include credit to the BFI at the end of my video. 
(3) It is fair dealing- I am only using around 10 seconds of the clip and it is for educational purposes, making it fair dealing in the eyes of courts. 

Therefore, I believe I would be able to legally use part of this video as long as credit is given and I'm only using a small portion of the video in my project. 

The gov website also states:

allowing copying of works in any medium as long as the following conditions apply:

  1. the work must be used solely to illustrate a point;

  2. the use of the work must not be for commercial purposes;

  3. the use must be fair dealing; and

  4. it must be accompanied by a sufficient acknowledgement.

I believe I am within my legal boundaries to use part of this clip, it is also not being used for commercial purposes.
